One thing I have notice sense leaving the cult is I am much more healthier now. I loss weight and I am much stronger. I feel one of the big reasons is STRESS. Leaving the cult has eliminated all that stress and without stress our bodies are able to heal. Just another thought on what it takes to live better and what may be going on in the borg. Dietary Quirks Among JWs
by millie210 ini recently had to accompany an older family member out of state to a family reunion.
it was a big reunion and not much was overtly made of the fact that i am "misguided" and not attending meetings (lost soul that i am) which was nice.
the thing i noticed that i was most struck by was all the dietary quirks in evidence during our 3 days together.

That is all nice but to be frank with all of you the majority of the food we American consume these days is very, very unhealthy. The reason is it all lacks right kind of nutrition important for our health. The unhealthy way our fruit, vegetables and meat is raised is absolutely scandalous. From the 1960's to now our food is almost 40% less nutritious. Our soil is dead because of the bad framing practices.
So I can see why people are sick but avoiding these foods is not really the answer. Changing our diets to local raised food or your own food is one of the best ways to go. Start cooking your food from scratch not heat and eat packet food. Get rid of all the artificial crap, cola's, and even worse diet cola's. Learn about true organic gardening were you help bring your soil back to life. Remember even with a very small yard or growing space one can grow a lot. I know this is all very radical for us but getting out of the cult was also radical. It will take years to do it but it is will worth it. The modern food industry of today is making us all sick. Did you leave the JW RECENTLY? Really? Recently? WTF were you thinking?
by The Real Edward Gentry innot to be overly harsh...but if you just left, what the hell were you thinking?
between 1995 and now, you never did an internet search of "jehovahs-witness" or "watchtower"?

Edward Gentry, everyone is different in why and when or how we woke up and left this cult. Many of us here did not have home computers or Internet when we was 18. That was all science fiction to us. Biggest technology break was the 8 track music machine for our cars. When computers and Internet became popular many of us was in the middle of raising children. Also I was very apprehensive in using them.
If you are young you was born into the information age I was not. So for someone like myself even if I had doubts I had very few options to research it. I woke up in my mid 50's and severing as a elder. What was i thinking? I was thinking of how could I keep my head above water with working and all the busy work the cult threw at you. Be happy at a young age you woke up. Use your time on this earth for the good. Take care and have a good life. Still Totally ADD

Who has a harder time leaving JW's - Born Ins or those who converted?
by HeyLittleGirl inmy freind (who is also out) and i were talking about this the other night.
i was a born-in, 3rd generation jw and she converted when she was in her late 20's.. when she left, she said that she knew the world wasn't as bad as she was told as a jw, so she knew she would be fine.
also, she still had lots of "worldly" family who welcomed her back with open arms.. it was harder for me - i had nobody in the "world", no family or freinds.

P.E. you hit the nail right on the head when telling what it is like being raised in this cult. As a born-in it was harder for me but my wife was a convert and was able to go back to her real self. She guided me through many things I did not know or understand about the world. It was the distrust of others and to learn just because I just meant someone they was not a friend. Friendship is something one needs to work on. I am so thankful my wife and I left together. She my teacher to becoming my authentic self. Whatever that is. LOL. Still Totally ADD

So a executive from a large company was amazed how the WT was able to accomplish all that he saw with free help/volunteers.
He was amazed because he was most likely thinking how can he get away with that at his company. That is if that really happen. Still Totally ADD

I was 4 years old in 1958 and I was there. I remember all the people and everyday I would bug my parents to sit down on the grass field. I also got to ride a camel at the Bronx zoo. We went to the museum of natural history and I got to see the large dinosaur skeleton. My parents drove us from central IL to NY city for that convention. My dad took the cult hook, line and sinker. That's a good question. We moved to a new-old house back at the end of January this year. We found out about 3 months later we was only 2 blocks from a KH. You would think every other week they would be knocking at our door. Not one yet, Zero, Narda. Working for our local bus system I only saw witnesses once and they was working a cart in down town Jamestown. This is a double hall mind you. You would think we would get at lease a pamphlet in our door. It appears maybe not as much. Still Totally ADD
